Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is the daughter of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. She is also the sister of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi. She was born in Delhi on January 12, 1972. It is a matter of great pride that her father, grandmother and great-grandfather, viz. Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, all were the Prime Ministers of India. Her mother Sonia Gandhi is currently the President of the Indian National Congress and also the Chairperson of the ruling United Progressive Alliance. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was studied in Modern School, Convent of Jesus and Mary, and is a graduate in Psychology from the University of Delhi. She is married to Robert Vadra, and has two children, Raihan and Miraya.

Only Congress thinks for the good future: Rahul Gandhi

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing different rallies in Uttar Pradesh said that only Congress can provide a good governance.

“The Congress thinks of the future. Have you heard of the UID? There are several cards like Ration Card, voter ID, Driver’s License, etc. For one person there are multiple cards. We are making one card for one person. There will be one number for one person. What happens is there are different departments for different cards and the associated services. But we are merging them into one” he said.

“We won’t forget anyone. Loss is the most with you. See, Bangalore went ahead in IT. If you want to business in automobile industry, you can’t because Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have gone ahead in automobile industry” added Rahul Gandhi.

“If it does not grow, you have to go to different regions all across India. Since the ruling state government, there have been problems of electricity and water. They have not done anything good or substantial for the state in the last 20 years, and they’ll continue to the same” he added.

Sonia Gandhi in Imphal (Manipur)

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated new buildings in the Manipur capital, including the new assembly complex and City Convention Centre on Saturday, during a day's day visit to the state. The two also inaugurated the Manipur Film Development Corporation complex and the Inter State Bus Terminus.

Rahul Gandhi urges the youth to cleanse the political system

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi inaugurated the Youth Congress Convention in Rohini, Delhi. While addressing a massive rally of newly-elected office-bearers of the Youth Congress Rahul Gandhi urged the youth of the country to work together and cleanse the political system in the country.

“Corruption is most rampant in the political parties in our country. So this political system is to be cleansed and changed. Only the youth of the country can do so. So be ready, work together, change the system” said the Congress General Secretary in-charge of the Youth Congress and NSUI. The two day convention called “Buniyaad’ is the first of its kind in the history of the Youth Congress and is being attended by 8,000-odd elected members from across the country.

"All other parties follow the process of nomination. But the Youth Congress reflects voices that are democratically elected. Not Rahuljee or any other senior leaders selected you, you are here on the basis of your own merit, strength and capacity. Wherever I travel, I see how you are helping change the attitude" said Rahul Gandhi amidst great applauds. “India's youth must help usher in change", he added.

The Congress General Secretary appreciated the efforts to strengthen democracy in the Youth Congress. “During my initial interactions with the friends of Youth Congress, they complained that their voices go unheard in the organization”. “So we started the process of democratization in the Youth Congress (YC). We started it from Punjab and have now implemented in most of other states. Whenever there is a change initially people make fun of it, then they watch and finally they change themselves”, he claimed.

Appreciating the Youth Congress Sonia Gandhi said “you set an example by barring those convicted of crimes from contesting organisational elections and added “All of you have contested elections in the organization. In all elections some one wins and some one lose. But after elections you are all part of the same team working towards a single common goal, the betterment of the organisation of the Congress. There can be difference of opinions on various issues but these differences can be ironed out through discussions within the organization”.
She also cautioned the emerging leaders “It has been rightly said and proved that a divided team can never succeed and a united team can never fail”.
