Rahul Gandhi: Corruption is a serious issue

Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said while corruption is a serious issue before the country it can not be rooted merely by talking about it or by protesting against it as some political parties have been doing. By dancing and singing on this issue BJP leaders showed they were not serious about it because BJP has always been involved in corruption, scams and scandals. Lokpal Bill can prescribe punishment for corruption as some other existing legislations already do but that cannot root out the menace of corruption. Rahul Gandhi believes that the biggest corruption lays in the country's political system which breeds this sort of corruption. In most of the political parties leaders are nominated from above rather than selected on merit. This allows scope for manipulations and entry of corrupt persons into the political system. Urgent need is to change the way the present political system is organized in the country. Congress (I) has already done this in NSUI and IYC, said Rahul Gandhi.
