Mayawati never came clean or acted promptly on corruption: Rahul Gandhi

Blaming Mayawati for corruption and criminalisation of politics in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi has said she has never been sincere in controlling such activities although outwardly she has been putting out statements that she was against corruption. If she had taken effective measures to check corruption then how is it that corruption increased in the state, asked Rahul Gandhi. Her trick was that when things become too hot she shifted the blame on her ministers to create an impression that she was not aware of the corruption that was going on. As such, resignations of ministers following exposure of corruption cases or suspension of party legislators after their conviction by courts were nothing but only eyewash, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting for upcoming UP Assembly elections next month. He reminded the people that they had given not one but four chances to Mayawati but she failed each time. Now they should give Congress (I) a chance to form government and promised that they see the positive change within five years.
