Elephant in Lucknow eats central funds: Rahul Gandhi

Congress (I) has slammed Mayawati government for siphoning off the central funds which were sent to Uttar Pradesh for undertaking development schemes for the people. "Normally an elephant eats grass. But the elephant of Mayawati in Lucknow is eating the central government's funds meant for the development of the state," said Rahul Gandhi referring to corrupt Mayawati’s BSP whose poll symbol is elephant. “There is no shortage of funds with central government for developmental works. The only problem is that the funds we release from the centre are not reaching to the poor. They are being misused by BSP ministers," said Rahul Gandhi while on five day public contact program in Uttar Pradesh last week. "But, this time the people in Uttar Pradesh have decided to drive away the elephant in order to prevent the funds from being eaten away,” added Rahul Gandhi. Congress (I) leader has promised to ensure fast track development of Uttar Pradesh for which he called upon people to vote in favor of Congress (I).
