Rahul Gandhi unravels UP poll campaign in Phulpur

The Indian National Congress kicked in poll campaign, a few days ago, in Uttar Pradesh for the Assembly election due January next year. The Congress’ face of the UP campaign Rahul Gandhi hit the campaign trail from Phulpur.

This is the constituency, about 30 km from Allahabad, Rahul’s great grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru once used to contest elections from.

Sources say the Congress MP from Amethi will speak on the law and order situation in the state. He has recently been exposing a lot of deficiencies in the ruling state government under the BSP chief Mayawati.

By projecting Rahul Gandhi as its poster boy the Congress' strategy seems to be relying on legacy to bring in votes. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi was never pushed as the sole face of the party during any state election.

The Grand old party has taken a big gamble or you can say it has played its trump card for the much awaited political battle in the heartland state of India. To know if it is a show or a fold is everyone curious about.
