Mayawati govt stifled industrial growth: Rahul Gandhi

Blaming Mayawati for demoralizing the industrialists big and small alike, Congress (I) general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said her rule brought about all round failure of industrial growth in Uttar Pradesh. She stifled the industrial growth in the state, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing public meetings for the ongoing Assembly elections 2012. Rather than giving incentives to industries for encouraging them to register high growth rate her forcible extortion of money and hafta wasuli has compelled the marginal industrialists to closed down their establishments, he further said. Those who are able to pull out are shifting their industries to other states. Pointing out that this has led to a chain reaction, Rahul Gandhi said while production has come down, unemployment has risen directly affecting the people. This has brought down state revenue collection also, he added. He ruefully mentioned that Kanpur once known as Manchester of the East has now become junk yard of closed industries. Highlighting that even where the central government has sanctioned projects for helping the people and for bring development in the state he said Mayawati is not making available land for setting up new industries. Rahul Gandhi urged the people to put his party on the driver’s seat this time by voting in favor of Congress (I) and assured that it would turn Uttar Pradesh as industrial hub of the country with plenty of scope for gainful employment to the youth.
