Hitting out against Mayawati for allowing illegal removal and transportation of minerals activities in the state, Congress (I) has accused her of a large scale mining scam. She is plundering the natural resources of the state which is resulting in recurring loss of thousands of crores in revenue each year, said Congress (I) general secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in the poll bound state. The state is rich in natural resources. Lime store, sands, gravel and stones used in construction works are available in plenty in the state. She has given monopoly of this industry to Ponty Chadda Company - her personal favorite. While this company pays a fixed contracted amount to the government, it charges fees from contractors-traders as if it’s itself a government department. The company’s receipt bear government stamp. Such happenings confirm that Mayawati government is acting in conspiracy with Ponty Chadda Company to plunder the natural resources of the state, he added. Highlighting that she is benefiting the private company at the cost of the state, Rahul Gandhi asked she has failed to protect state’s natural resources. Appealing them to vote for Congress (I), he promised that his party would provide corruption-free, transparent and responsive government to the people.
