Mayawati sold state mills to private parties: Rahul Gandhi

Accusing Mayawati for indulging in sugar mill scams, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she sold out running sugar mills to benefit the private parties. Although by increasing support price for sugar cane she has pleased the farmers, mill owners have used this opportunity to hike the price of the sugar per bag, Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections. She has now put the farmers at the mercy of the sugar mill owners. She put on scale 11 sugar mills by under valuing its assets. Only three tenders were received whereas the sugar companies were running in good financial condition. Selling the state owned mills to please the farmers to get their votes is like robbing Peter to pay Paul. But farmers are not going to forget that she forcibly acquired their lands to benefit the rich builders. Highlighting that she is indulging in gimmicks to please the farmers to snatch their votes, Rahul Gandhi said that she is anti-farmer. The congress leader urged the people to vote for Congress (I) and assured that his party would follow pro-farmer, pro-poor policy.
