Flaying leaders like Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav for showing rosy promises to minority community without doing anything for them over the last two decades, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has promised to solve the issues of the minority community. Congress (I) have recently announced 4.5 per cent quota for Muslim minority for reservations in government jobs, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the Assembly election in UP. Congress (I) is aware of the issues of the Muslim community; there are socio-economic issues; education is another important issue, he further said adding that when Congress (I)-led UPA government came to power at Center in 2004 it appointed Sachhar Committee to recommend measures for socio-economic improvement of Muslim community. He added that while the recommendations given by Sachhar Committee have been implemented in Congress (I) ruled states, Mayawati has not done so in UP. Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav have kept the minority as hostages to grab their votes, said Rahul Gandhi. He also mentioned the central government waiver of Rs 50,000 loans for the weavers. Highlighting that reservation quota for the minority will be reviewed for increase and more socio-economic programs for their upliftment will be undertaken, Rahul Gandhi promised that Congress (I) will solve the pending issues of Muslim minority.
