Rahul Gandhi: Congress is committed to eradicate poverty and backwardness

Lashing out at non-Congress parties - BJP, BSP and SP - for encouraging a politics based on religion and caste, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that Congress (I) does work for eradication of of poverty and backwardness. Congress (I) does not talk of caste or religion; it works for all the people to take the country forward, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for Congress in Uttar Pradesh. “I say poverty should be abolished and backwardness should be removed because this is the true meaning of politics and development. Politics does not mean filling pockets of ministers with money and not going to the villages to meet the people,” said Rahul Gandhi. “Garibi hatao” and “pichrapan hatao” is what Congress (I) is working for, Rahul Gandhi added. Highlighting that non-Congress parties work only for their own groups, Rahul Gandhi requested the people not to trust them anymore. The Congress General Secretary urged the people to support Congress (I) and promised that a government of the poor by Congress (I) would work for all the people without any discrimination.
