Congress Plans Etiquette Classes for Bangalore Members

Some embarrassing instances of Congress party men involved in brawls and public misbehaviour has forced the party to crack the whip on the misbehaving leaders. This has come at the backdrop of recent cases of public misbehave and bad conduct.

Following the arrest of a Congress corporator from Bharatinagar along with his henchmen for stabbing a bar owner after the latter refused to serve liquor beyond the stipulated time, the party now wants to provide a “behaviour training” seminar for all its party men to avoid further embarrassment in future.

"It is unfortunate that our corporators are involved in such shameful acts. To correct their behavior, our party will conduct a seminar and a monthly meeting to ensure that they do not indulge in such acts ever again," Opposition leader Uday Shankar said. It’ is evident Shankar has been speaking against corruption in the current government in the state.

Several politicians are feeling the repercussions of this act and are reportedly concerned because the party has been identified for all the wrong reasons. "I cannot react on the seminar for corporators due to the strange incident of the drunken brawl. The party leader has to decide and we will follow," said Congressman M K Gunashekar.

Meanwhile, Munisanjeevaiah, corporator of Jayanagar East, criticised the attack and supported the seminar. "As a corporator, one should lead by example. But in this case, the corporator is identified for all the wrong reasons. I strongly condemn this misbehaviour," he said. This stance of Congress seems to intend conduct regulation of its politicians down in the South. Will the new learners abide by it and to what extent, is the next thing to be known.

Sonia Gandhi: People of West Bengal suffered under Left govt.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi during her rally in connection with West Bengal Assembly elections in April highlighted the plight of the people in that state. She said the condition of the people had got bad to worse due to neglect by the Left government. She referred to various schemes initiated by the UPA government at the Centre for the development of state. Sufficient central funds were provided to the Left government to implement progressive schemes, she said. The Left Front Government had failed to make use of Central funds given to the state for its development. She emphatically said that so much amount of funds was given to the states by UPA government as no government in the past had done. She added that the amount of work done by the Congress-led government at the Centre for all sections of society had not been matched by any non-Congress government in the past. This was the reason why that the people of West Bengal ultimately voted out the Leftist government and brought in the government supported by the Congress-Trinamool alliance.

Congress represents all the people of our country

The Congress is, and has been the only national party that represents all sections of our people, all classes, all castes, all religions, all linguistic and ethnic groups. India is today one of the largest economies in the world, - with a large industrial base, supported by heavy industries and a large infrastructure, a revolutionised agriculture with food self sufficiency and a huge scientific and technical manpower. The Congress is the party, which is committed to provide true good governance, protect the country’s unity and integrity and provide the environment of security matched by stability of policies, and time-tested expertise in policy-designs and policy reforms. The Congress has modified its policies in response to the changing worlds and the needs of our people. But at the same time the Congress has scrupulously maintained the consistency by adjusting them to the objectives of economic growth with social justice. That is why our country has today attained the height, strength, stability and economic prosperity for which many other countries are striving for without success.

Congress : HC verdict on land acquisition vindicates Rahul Gandhi’s stand

The Congress hailed the Allahabad high court verdict slamming the Mayawati government for its refusal to lodge an FIR of rape in Bhatta-Parsaul villages of Greater Noida. Congress leaders from Uttar Pradesh said that the issue raised by Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has been vindicated.

"During Rahul Gandhi's visit to Bhatta-Parsaul, some women informed him about the rape by PAC men but the state government did not take it seriously. Now, we expect them to lodge an FIR in the case after the HC decision," Congress spokesman Akhilesh Pratap Singh said. A victim had filed a complaint before the station house officer (SHO) of Dankaur Police Station, alleging rape by the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) jawans deployed at Bhatta-Parsaul after farmers clashed with policemen during the land acquisition agitation. However, when police refused to lodge an FIR, the victim approached a local court. The court directed the police to lodge an FIR but the latter challenged the decision in the high court.

Congress receptive to different views

Congress believes that different views from whatever person, party or organization ought to be given due attention.  They are valuable inputs which help in analyzing and weighing value of each view and thereby helping in arriving at broad consensus.  Congress party does the same within the party also. For example there could have be a difference of opinion between the cabinet members on the fact whether Prime Minister should be included in the ambit of the Lokpal Bill.  But cabinet decision is collective decision and what matters in the country is the decision and not the views of the cabinet.  Media sometimes report surmises and conjectures which is not the final decision. Yes, Prime Minister offered himself to be put in the ambit of the Lokpal Bill because he believes fully in the parliamentary democracy - the heart and soul of which is the collective decision making of the cabinet and therefore, the Prime Minister defers to the decision of the cabinet. Thus for Congress views and opinions may be different but final decision is always one.

Congress govt. periodically does self performance appraisals and auditing

It is a matter of satisfaction that Congress party has been in the service of the people over 125 years. It has been a political force to be reckoned with, which has unleashed the potential power of our people to develop and built our society into a powerful, industrially strong and technologically advanced country in the world. If Congress party has been the preferred party over several decades for most of time after independence, it is because we know the rules of governance. Congress party and the government has consciously and periodically undertaken self performance appraisals and audit of its activities. Each such exercise is productive in the sense that it gives the party and the government a valuable opportunity to once again overview its policies and implementations and thereby make necessary mid course changes wherever required. The Congress party and the government is never shy of admitting its shortcomings. That is the reason why government reshuffle are undertaken to ease out non performing ministers and to induct potential performers.

Rahul Gandhi reaches out people in need rather than other way round

Youth icon and Congress General Secretary recently speaking on style of functioning said, “As far as I am concerned I reach out to people. As far as I am concerned my aim is not only to reach out to them; it is to understand. I want to understand that what a poor person in Shravasti is facing. That’s what I want to understand. I don’t actually reach out and go to them and say that I am Mr Rahul Gandhi and I have come to see you. No. All I want, I want to understand them; you can go to them and ask them what were the questions I asked to them when I sat with them. I asked to them: What you find difficult? What happens to NAREGA here? Does NAREGA help you? What happened with Karjamaafi; did it help you? Did it get to you? Why did not it get to you? Because as somebody who is involved in politics, the biggest problem in this country is; the all good intentions the governments have, don’t reach to people. And as a politician I want to understand what is going on."

Congress : BJP blow insignificant incident out of proportion

BJP is in the habit of blowing insignificant incidents out of proportion and thereby distorting the facts to mislead the people said Congress. About bugging in North Block office Congress party has clarified that BJP party is in grave danger of complete deterioration, after not just their defeat in the Lok Sabha polls but in the recently concluded assembly elections also where they won only five sets. Now there is a total internal rebellion among their senior leaders and is in such a state of desperation that they are clutching on straws to make allegations against the government added Congress. The bugging referred to a newspaper report about which Hon’ble Finance Minister has already clarified. The Hon’ble Finance Minister said that the IB has looked into it and there is nothing in it and called all other allegations, which were made in this regard, as bogus. Certainly such allegations were completely an attempt by the BJP to divert attention from their own internal deterioration and from their internal rebellion within their own ranks. The BJP should try to raise constructive issues and refrain from trying to divert the attention of the people.

Congress condemn BJP for spreading misinformation about 2G spectrum

BJP does not play constructive politics because it is bankrupt of ideas said Congress. Its focus has never been on issues of ‘aam aadmi’. Rather BJP leaders relish indulging in petty politics of blame game for ulterior motives. BJP does so to hide its misdeeds by calling the ruling party corrupt accused Congress. It thinks that by adopting this type of tactics and mind games it would unnerve the ruling party. It is their mistaken believe that they will be successful in misleading the people and the country on the issue of corruption. Congress party is serious about corruption and has taken strong action against corruption. CBI investigation has been set in motion. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against defaulters no matter how high or strong they were. It is unfortunate that BJP leaders are deliberately spreading rumors that they have information about on 2G spectrum. In case they really have information they are free to present the same before JPC which is inquiring into the matter instead of telling the media about it to gain cheap publicity.
