Congress government has shown that it is concerned with public issues and does not allow any ego to stand in the way. There were questions as to who would form the civil society or whether an ordinary citizen could be termed as civil society and whether there was no provision in our constitution for forming such committees. Congress party chose a middle path and it did not have any ego on this issue. But it made it clear that its agreeing to such demand should not be treated as basis for other unreasonable demands. Under the constitution, the constitutional responsibility, the responsibility to get the bill passed and the accountability still rests with the government and the Ministers and will remain so in future also. With Congress it was never an issue to agree or disagree with the demands. The government, also have certain rights and responsibilities which we cannot abdicate.
The government took a principled stand and it believed that it was not in the least unreasonable and at the time extended full cooperation.
