AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi during his three-day tour to Bundelkhand, reached out to the minority Muslim community by holding meetings and interacting with the locals. After making a night stay at the house of Shabbir Ali, Gram Pradhan of Muslim populated Matcha-Kamaria village in Hamirpur district, Rahul Gandhi visited another Muslim dominated Ghusiyari Village in Banda. He held a chaupal there and discussed with villagers regarding the welfare schemes of the central government and inquired about their implementation. He also inquired about party candidates in the region. Before leaving he visited the Darul-Uloom Rabbania Arabic College and interacted with the students. Rahul Gandhi was happy to know from the authorities that the college syllabus includes English, Mathematics, Science and Computers. During interaction Rahul Gandhi also tried to know the opinion of the audience on the attack by America on Iraq. The free interaction and the informal attitude of the young leader has certainly created a fresh enthusiasm and hope among Muslim community.
During the day Rahul Gandhi visited Mataundh village also and interacted with the students of the Government Intermediate College. He found time to inspect the construction site of an over bridge and interacted with the labours there. Later in the day, he called a separate meeting of district functionaries and party candidates in Banda.
Congress General Secretary and MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday had dinner at the house of Shabbir Ali and slept on the terrace of his house. Earlier, he had done the same with a dalit family on Monday. During the day he offered reverence at a local dargah in the area. He had also visited the shrine of Hazarat Sayed Mardan Ali Nizami.
This visit once again proved the positive intention of Congress General Secretary to strike a chord with the common people and the minorities. He interacted freely with the local populace concentration on many welfare policies by UPA like MGNREGA in their area. He reacted sharply when informed that the schemes were not being effectively implemented in the area. Taking a dig at the state government Rahul alleged that the funds meant for the development of Bundelkhand region is being siphoned away. He appealed to the people to support the Congress so that picture could change in this backward region.
