Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed a gathering of Congress workers in Jaipur as part of his two-day visit to Rajasthan. He slammed the BJP govt in Rajasthan as well as the Narendra Modi-led govt at the Centre. “ I never understood the practical use of pagdi. After walking 10 km in Rajasthan, I have understood the importance of a pagdi.. I liked the movie Lagaan about the poor of India, and tax being taken from farmers, and how they unite.. In the end, the farmers win. In the movie, and in real life.” He said. “The farmers in our country, the people and the Congress party will make the 56inch chest to 5.6 inch, if they try to grab the lands of the poor” warned the Congress leader.

The Congress leader held interaction with the people on Tuesday. She listened to the problems of locals from Raebareli and Amethi — the Lok Sabha constituencies represented respectively by her mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi and brother and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. The janata darbar at Bhuvemau guest house ground began around 10 am and Priyanka Gandhi met more than 300 people in groups. The locals came with different requests, from seeking help for treatment of their ailing family members, to seeking better road connectivity and drinking water. Priyanka Gandhi met locals in groups, personally took their applications and assured them of all possible help.
In a bid to strengthen the Congress party in the region, she also met newly-appointed presidents of gram panchayat, Nyaya Panchayat and the block leaders to set the next two months' agenda — undertake padyatras (footmarch) to spread message about UPA's food security scheme. Priyanka Gandhi met about 1000 functionaries. She asked them to target state government for non implementation of the food security scheme and poor implementation of other centrally funded schemes.
Priyanka Gandhi, who arrived in Raebareli on Monday, first interacted with villagers of different Assembly segments of the constituency, and sought feedback on the implementation of the Central schemes, particularly the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MNREGA) scheme. While interacting with Congress workers at Ghurai village in Khiro block, she also asked the chairmen of gram sabhas about the implementation of the Indira Awas Yojana, and the availability of water and electricity. She was apprised of the incessant power cuts and absence of electricity for most part of the day, as well as the supply of polluted potable water. Priyanka Gandhi also spent time with villagers in the Khiro block.
On Monday, Priyanka Gandhi had met the villagers of Saguni, Hardi, Khushti and Chak Gajraj Kherha and asked for information about the progress of the Centre’s programmes in the district. She also inaugurated a solar plant at Mithunkheda village, built at a cost of Rs. 17 lakh.

Like Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi too a leader with a vision for modern India
The Congress workers across the country are in better spirits after appointing Rahul Gandhi as its Vice President. Rahul Gandhi is a leader who follows the footsteps of his father -- late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi -- the creator of modern India. Like Rajiv Gandhi Rahul Gandhi also has a modern and progressive vision and believes that one should take all sections of the people in the process of development.
