Congress (I) has said crime situation in Uttar Pradesh is mainly due to unlawful activities being carried on by BSP ministers, MLAs and BSP workers who have become law unto themselves. Some times earlier a BSP MLA was booked for allegedly threatening a businessman and for trying to seize his property. An FIR was registered against Jitendra Singh Babloo on court orders at Hazratganj police station. The businessman Mahesh Kumar Srivastava, had alleged that Babloo along with his associates forcibly entered into his office and threatened Srivastava to give away the place to the BSP leader or face dire consequences. Congress (I) said Srivastava said he urgently reported the matter to police but his complaint was not registered under influence of the BSP MLA. Later, he went to the court, which ordered registering a case against the MLA. Congress (I) pointed out that Babloo, an MLA from Bikapur in Faizabad is one who was involved in burning the house of UP Congress (I) state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi in July 2009.
