Congress (I) has slammed Mayawati government for misuse of funds which Centre has been sending for implementation of development schemes in Uttar Pradesh. Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had personally visited Bundelkhand and seen the pathetic conditions of people there hit by drought, hunger and unemployment. At his instance a special package of Rs 8,000 was sanctioned for integrated development of Bundelkhand region. While Mayawati has often been taking excuse of lack of funds for development, she failed to spend less than 10% of special package funds for development of Bundelkhand. Thus people of the region continued to suffer while funds were actually available but Mayawati kept politicking about it. In these circumstances there is no point giving more money which disappears through leaking pipes, said Congress (I) adding that Mayawati’s government is a case of failed governance which has compounded the miseries of the people of Bundelkhand.
