Rahul Gandhi brought development as the focus in UP elections: Congress

Congress accused BSP chief Mayawati of playing caste vote bank politics and claimed that full credit should be given to Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi for making the issues of good governance and development the main focus in the UP elections.

These are the issues which people are concerned in Uttar Parades. The people in UP are not bothered about caste, religion, said the Congress. But Mayawati is again up in her old game of caste politics and throwing about promises to ‘other’ communities to garner their votes and to divert people’s attention from the core issues, said many Congress leaders.

Congress argued that Mayawati is not talking about corruption and crime in the state. She is not talking about development either. During many public meetings Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi also ahd said that Mayawati government looted the money which under MNREGA Scheme was meant for providing employment to the needy poor. The Congress leader also had alleged that Mayawati’s ministers siphoned off crores of NRHM funds which were meant to improve rural health care services for the poor people in rural areas.
