Rahul Gandhi: I believe in the strength of the people and so will not give blind promises

The congress leader also questioned the promise of Mulayam Singh Yadav to convert Bundelkhand to Israel. Rahul Gandhi also asked how Mulayam can provide free electricity to all in U.P where there are no power houses to produce electricity.

“I will not give hollow promises like Mayawati and Mulayam. My intention is noble so there is no need of promises. For the past seven years I have been visiting various villages and mingling with poor farmers and workers. Farmers told me that the fertlisers are not available for them. Youth told me that they do not get jobs in U.P. I am here to fight for you and not to make toll promises” informed Rahul Gandhi and the crowd acknowledged it with applauds.

Rahul Gandhi then assured that he would not leave UP till it stands on its own feet”. “You will see Rahul Gandhi amongst the farmers, workers and poor people till development takes place and the Central funds reach the people. When I go to the people and interact with them some leaders term it as my drama. I do not mind and I am going to continue this drama” declared Rahul Gandhi.

“You have the strength as well as knowledge. “The money is yours. Your efforts bring development. Only you can bring in changes, not the leaders. What Congress does is to reach your money back to you,” he said.

“The day you form a Government that comes to you and enquire about your difficulties, changes will take place in U.P. But SP and BSP think that the people will blindly believe in their toll promises. They consider that the people are fools,” said Rahul Gandhi.

“I respect you. I will not lie because I believe in your strength. Please support Congress and elect Congress candidates to enable Congress to form a government of aam aadmi… You found time to hear me with respect and I am grateful for that,” concluded Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi: Congress’ policies aimed at solving people’s issues

All India Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi who had led the Congress campaign in Uttar Pradesh questioned the ‘India Shining’ slogan of BJP led NDA and said that BJP made the slogan by watching a TV advertisement of a dress material. Rahul Gandhi said that that BJP thought that India was shining without trying to understand the exact situation in the country where there were no sufficient jobs, roads, water or electricity.

“What did we – the Congress- do? We did not watch TV. We came to you and asked about your difficulties”. Focusing the women audience Rahul Gandhi said “These women told me that there are no jobs available in the villages. Jobs are available only in the cities. That is why Congress led Central government made MNREGA scheme. This scheme was introduced as a result of your thought. It was because of you we have this biggest employment guarantee policy now” said Rahul Gandhi.

“This UPA Government at the centre is not of Congress but it is yours. We just have one thing. Your trust” asserted Rahul Gandhi.

“In UP For the past 22 years you have been supporting non-Congress parties. But none of them respected the people. They keep giving promises that they would give you electricity, water and will help the farmers. But when they come to power they loot your money. The magic elephant in Lucknow gobbles up the funds meant for the poor, instead of grass and leaves. It eats up your money daily,” repeated Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi to the people: Free your hands and let us together develop UP

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi who led the campaign for Congress in Uttar Pradesh lashed out at the non-Congress parties for the lack of development in the state and informed that the parties like BJP always asked from where we will have the money when Congress makes schemes for the benefit of the poor.

While speaking at a massive public rally in Meerut, Rahul Gandhi asserted that the money came by the hard work of the poor people in the country. “This money is not of BSP, SP, BJP or Congress. This is the money of your sweat and blood. This money is the result of hard work of farmers and workers. If the country is developing it is because of your efforts, your blood and sweat” said Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress led Central government sent huge amounts under MNREGA to UP. But Mayawati says that the scheme is of no use. You go to the states where Congress is in power like Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala or Maharashtra, every poor will vouch for the benefit of MNREGA” argued Rahul Gandhi.

“I go to the people to realize their strength. Your hands are tied now. The moment your hands are freed, the state will start developing” said the Congress leader. “For the past 22 years, your leaders never came to you. They were busy looting the public money. The magic elephant in Lucknow eats up the huge amount of money meant for the poor,” added Rahul Gandhi.
