Rahul Gandhi alleges looting of Bundelkhand package under Maya raj

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing an election rally in Basti, Uttar Pradesh came heavily on opposition parties, mainly SP and BSP, for neglecting the poor and development of the state. “Neither Mulayam Ji nor Mayawati Ji did come to you in the past five years. They didn’t find it necessary to visit Bundelkhand when the people were crying for relief there. Both these parties ignored the pain of Bunkars too” said Rahul Gandhi.
He said that when drought struck in Bundelkhand, Mayawati and Mulayam Singh did not go there. “I went and got a financial package worth Rs 8,000 crore but the money was stolen. We sent tractors for farmers but the minister gave it to his children. All the money we send gets stolen,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi assured that only a Congress Government can put an end to the bad state of affairs in the state. “You gave 22 years to others. Now give five years to Congress. We changed Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Kerala. Now let us change U.P too”.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Balbhadrapur, Amethi (U.P) on 3 Feb 2012

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra “Rahul Gandhi is committed to remove the backwardness of U.P”
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra kick-started her second leg of campaign in Amethi and Raebareli by addressing a meeting at Balbhadrapur in Amethi on Friday.
“You know that this is election time and people come to you seeking your support. I too have come (laughs). I had sought your support in 2007 too, but you did not honour my request. What did you get in five years? The roads you see were built by the Centre. The facilities for water also were given by the Centre. What did your MLA do? Definitely he did one thing; he built a luxurious bungalow for himself and that too with your money. This state of affairs is not the case of your place only; the entire U.P is like this,” said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra starting her address.
“I had met my fellow workers last week. One Congress worker told me that the MLA here has not indulged in assaulting anybody; didn’t send anyone to jail, not victimized anyone, did not grab lands of others. And more importantly he hasn’t got anyone assassinated. This is the situation here,” she added.
“The people here are deprived off their rights. The narrow politics in the past 22 years have destroyed the state. The politics here thrives on divisive ideologies. Now you please think yourself”, urged Priyanka Gandhi.
“Who is a leader? He should be your servant. He should have been among you and not on the stage. It is very sad that you are forced to beg for your rights,” she told.
“When you will realize this? When you will wake up? You suffered for the past 22 years. They betrayed you in the name of caste and religion. Where is the development here? You go to Maharashtra or Andhra Pradesh and experience the progress there. You can understand what the meaning of development is. Young people of Uttar Pradesh are forced to go to those places and work there,” wondered Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
“Now you have a chance after 22 years to change the state of affairs. You know Rahul Ji. He is very stubborn. He has been working hard and putting in all tremendous effort. I once asked Rahul Ji what he would get by putting this much amount of hard work. He responded that he is never bothered about the election results. Uttar Pradesh is now backward and he wants to bring in positive changes,” she informed.
“Now this is the time to think about a change. This is not the question of pride and honour of my family. But it is the question of your prestige. It is the question of the future of your children. So think yourself. It is evident that no satisfactory development took place in your region. Think about your region as well as your state. Strengthen the hands of Congress. You will witness how the state progresses,” urged Priyanka Gandhi.
“During elections many parties and leaders come to you. I also do come (laughs). But you have the wisdom to understand the real intention of the parties and its leaders. You have the strength. Nothing will happen without the power of the people. The assembly elections are on 15th February. Think for a positive change and think about strengthening Congress. You will have a MLA who understands your problems and to solve those. Thank you. Jai hind,” she concluded.

Non-Congress parties sold Ram, caste and religion: Rahul Gandhi

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi slammed all the major non-Congress parties in Uttar Pradesh – SP, BSP and BJP- for the bad state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh. “None of these parties cared for the welfare of the people or the progress of the state. They just kept themselves busy in looting public money. The funds sent by the Centre also vanished” said Rahul Gandhi.
Referring negative stand of Mayawati on MNREGA the Congress leader said “We sent thousands of crores of rupees under MNREGA. But your Chief Minister says that the scheme is of no use. You go to any other places where Congress is in power like Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala or Maharashtra, every poor will vouch for the benefit of MNREGA”.
"These parties have looted your hard earned money, sold God Ram, religion and caste and never talked about progress and development in the past 22 years" he asserted.
