Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi visited Jhirka, Haryana to address a public rally. He lashed out opposition by saying, opposition blamed Congress for corruption but there was time when opposition party was ‘selling’ jobs to recruit teachers. “We are proud of this state, the farmers of this state and the soldiers of this state who protect our country. We are proud of our wrestlers who perform and win medals for us. There should be new slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan and Jai Pehalwaan (wrestler),” said Rahul Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 145th birth anniversary

The nation paid homage to Father of the Nation-Mahatma Gandhi on his 145th birth anniversary on Thursday. Along with several other leaders, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, accompanied by former Kerala Governor Shiela Dikshit paid their homage to Father of the Nation at Rajghat. The leaders paid floral tributes at Rajghat - the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi on the banks of the Yamuna river. A minute's silence was observed at the black stone memorial by all the leaders. The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti across the country. It is also marked as the International Day of Non-Violence. Mahatma Gandhi, born this day in 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat, played a key role in India's independence struggle. He was assassinated on January 30, 1948.

Jammu and Kashmir: Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi assures full support to flood-affected people

Anantnag (J&K): Congress President Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi visited Jammu and Kashmir for the first time since it was struck by devastating floods on Monday and assured that their party is with the people of the state and assured all help to mitigate their suffering."Congress party is with you. We will take up your issues with the Government and help you in whichever way we can," Rahul said while addressing a gathering of flood affected people at Dehruna village. He said the party shares the grief of the people and has been helping them since the floods hit the Valley. "Our organisation, including Congress party, Youth and Women Congress, NSUI, RGF and local leaders have been working here since the floods hit. It is a time of grief and we came here to see for ourselves (the destruction caused by floods). We will visit other places as well," said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi in Amethi slams Modi govt at the Centre

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi accused the Narendra Modi led BJP government at the Centre of forgetting its promises to voters, saying "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is playing the drums in Japan but ignoring crises of water, power and prices" at home. "This government has forgotten its promises on corruption, on power, on water, on prices. 100 days are over, where is the result? Vegetables are more expensive and there are serious power and water crises," said Rahul Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi in Raebareli launches welfare projects, interacts with people

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, on the last day of her two-day visit to her parliamentary constituency Raebareli, inaugurated a solar power based mini water pump system and interacted with the people. In the morning, Sonia met people at Bhueymau guest house here and listened to their grievances and took their applications. Later, she inaugurated the solar power based mini water pump system in Sanahi village before taking a tour of different villages.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi was in her parliamentary constituency Raebareli. She met with ITI workers who complained to her that they had not received their salaries for the past four months. She promised to take up their issues with the concerned authorities. The Congress president, to a question by some reporters on the completion of 100 days of the Narendra Modi government outside the Jai Ma Anandi Devi temple in Bheetar Gaon where she had gone for darshans, responded the “people will give a reply to whether prices (of essential commodities) have gone down or not”. At Rehwa village, women complained to her about power and water woes, and absence of doctors at the newly opened primary health centre in the area. Sonia Gandhi also visited the house of Shambhu Sharan Diwedi Bandhu, a litterateur who died recently, to pay her condolences to his family members.
